On film and digital:

Most of the photographs were taken with a manual SLR film camera. I've recently started using a digital SLR camera for work assignments and have struggled to decide whether to add that work to the site. I've spoken to many people who see no difference between the two in terms of the images they can produce, and to a few who do see a difference. To me, it has to do with what I use them for, and how. Digital is more reliable for good quality under most conditions, and for good colour; and so that's what I prefer when I take photographs for work. But when I'm shooting for personal moments or projects, and particularly in black & white, I prefer to use film. The limitations of film under certain conditions give me the opportunity to create a particular quality in the image – and I enjoy working with those limitations. It's also a different process, with a certain simplicity and mystery.

Either way I'm more interested in creating a photograph before the 'click' than after, so any adjustments to the image are kept to a minimum.
